Our History

Grand Master Clarence Franklin began Martial Arts as a teenager in Albany, Georgia training under Grand Master Young Sil Seo. In his 35-year career, he has been an elite competitor in Boxing, Kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do. Currently Grand Master Franklin is a 7th Degree Black Belt and his most recent personal accomplishment has been winning the 2006 AAU Heavy Weight Sparring title.

Grand Master Franklin opened his first school in Americus Georgia under the direction of his Grandmaster. After several success years as an instructor and working for the Albany University Police Dept., he moved with his family to Cary, North Carolina.  While in Cary, he began training with Master Jun Lee and worked as a firefighter with the Cary FD.  Following God’s calling to Rocky Mount, NC, Grand Master Franklin opened Champion Tae Kwon Do Plus. This full time school has been open for over 17 yrs. and was purchased by his senior ranked student in 2004.  At this time, Grand Master Franklin opened Flex Tae Kwon Do Center, Inc. in Greensboro, NC.

Presently, Flex headquarters has grown into a 6200 sq. ft. facility with 4000 sq. ft being the DoJang floor.  Over 300 students call Flex their Tae kwon Do home.  With added staff, Flex summer camps not only include Martial Arts based programs but also cheerleading, kid’s Fun n’ Fitness and Jump Rope.  An After School Martial Arts program, Aerobic kickboxing and Tumbling Tiger programs round out the schedule to offer a variety of activities for our Martial Art families.

The Flex headquarters school in Greensboro has been named "Best Martial Arts" 3 years running in the Go Triad Reader's Choice awards. Over the years, Grand Master Franklin has tested over 200 students to Black Belt levels with several becoming elite competitors like himself.

In Aug. 2008, we celebrated both Grand Master Franklin's birthday and his promotion to 7th Dan Black Belt on his 50th Birthday.
